There's a particular kind of summer morning here in Granville — the kind where the porch is still cool, the coffee's still hot, and you haven't quite decided what the day wants from you yet. That's the feeling I keep coming back to every time I pull pieces for the shop this time of year. Not "vacation style." Not "trend of the week." Just clothes that feel like they belong to this season, in this town.

Fabrics that can breathe
If it can't survive a walk from the Village Green to madelyn's without wilting, it doesn't make the cut. This summer, I'm leaning hard into lightweight linen blends and airy cottons — pieces that move with you instead of sticking to you. There's a reason our customers keep coming back for the same silhouettes in new color ways: when something works in July heat, you don't mess with it.
Color, but make it easy
I'm still a sucker for the same warm, earthy palette that runs through everything we carry — soft creams, sun-worn golds, that dusty clay you see on the barns out past Route 37. But summer opens the door for a little more brightness too. A little citrus. A little sky blue. Nothing loud — just enough to feel like the season.
One piece that does the work
If you only remember one thing from this post: a good dress is the whole outfit. Slide on sandals, grab a tote, and you're done — no negotiating with separates in the heat. It's why our dresses have been flying off the racks lately (birthday sale or not). A dress you actually reach for is worth more than five things you talk yourself into.
Dressed up, not dressed stiff
Evenings around here still call for a little effort — dinner on the square, a friend's porch, the occasional wedding. My rule for summer "dressy": it should still feel like you, just tidier. A relaxed dress with a little structure, a good sandal, minimal jewelry. Nothing that requires you to sit differently than you normally would.
The little things

- A wide-brim hat that actually stays on in the wind off the reservoir
- One piece of statement jewelry you don't have to think about twice
